Empowering Grape Farmers Through Value Addition Description: Discover how we are transforming grape farming in Uganda through capacity building, value addition, and market access for our farmers.

We aim to be the leading self-sustainable grape farmers’ cooperative, driving economic growth and improving livelihoods in Uganda.

Founded in 2019, Mbarara Grape Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd. aims to empower grape farmers in Mbarara, Uganda, by enhancing grape growing, reducing poverty, and boosting incomes. With over 220 members producing more than 400 tons of grapes annually, we are committed to transforming grape farming into a sustainable and profitable venture through value addition such as winemaking.

To be the leading self-sustainable grape farmers' cooperative in Uganda.

To build the capacity of grape farmers to process and market grape products, thereby improving their livelihoods.

"Joining the Mbarara Grape Farmers Cooperative has transformed my farming. The training and support we receive have helped us improve our grape yields and income. With the cooperative's plans to establish a winery, I am excited about the future of grape farming in Mbarara."

"The cooperative has empowered us as farmers to see the full potential of grape farming. From providing technical expertise to exploring new markets, Mbarara Grape Farmers Cooperative has given us hope and a clear path to financial independence."

"Before joining the cooperative, selling grapes was a struggle due to limited market access. Now, we are not only selling more but also looking forward to processing our grapes into wine, which will add significant value to our efforts. This cooperative has truly uplifted our community."

"Enhancing Grape Growing through Value Addition," which is presented to the President’s Office of the Republic of Uganda through the Woman Member of Parliament for Mbarara City. The cooperative is seeking government intervention to support their efforts in establishing a modern winery and enhancing the capacity of grape farmers. They emphasize the need for government support to provide wine processing machinery, which would help them add value to their grape production and improve the livelihoods of their members.
