About Us
Founded in 2019, Mbarara Grape Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd. aims to empower grape farmers in Mbarara, Uganda, by enhancing grape growing, reducing poverty, and boosting incomes. With over 220 members producing more than 400 tons of grapes annually, we are committed to transforming grape farming into a sustainable and profitable venture through value addition such as winemaking.

What we do
Some Of Our Works
Grape Farming and Capacity Building
The cooperative engages in grape farming, providing training and resources to farmers to improve their skills, farming techniques, and overall grape yield.
Value Addition through Winemaking
They are working towards establishing a modern winery to process grapes into wine, adding value to their produce and significantly increasing farmers' incomes.
Market Access and Diversification
The cooperative supports farmers by improving access to local and international markets and diversifying grape farming into table grapes, which have high demand in Uganda and the wider East African region.
Our Objectives
- To enhance the skills and capacities of grape farmers.
- To establish a fund addressing market access and post-harvest handling challenges.
- To add value to grapes through processing and packaging.
- To diversify grape products among cooperative members, including introducing table grapes.

Presented To The President Office
"Enhancing Grape Growing through Value Addition," which is presented to the President’s Office of the Republic of Uganda through the Woman Member of Parliament for Mbarara City. The cooperative is seeking government intervention to support their efforts in establishing a modern winery and enhancing the capacity of grape farmers. They emphasize the need for government support to provide wine processing machinery, which would help them add value to their grape production and improve the livelihoods of their members.
